RhPAP – Alberta’s Rural Health Professions Action Plan is one of Canada’s more comprehensive non-profit organization programs for the education, attraction and retention of health professionals to work in rural Alberta.
The position:
RhPAP has been awarded a provincial grant to help medical students transition from residency to practicing medicine in rural Alberta.
The person:
We are looking for a dynamic Program Director, operational manager for all day-to-day activities related to this project. A leader who possesses an understanding of medical student pathways to practice medicine in Alberta, health care policy, and health-care delivery in rural Alberta. Being comfortable in presenting to various groups and leading working teams will be important. This individual will be involved in developing health workforce policy, strategy, and program implementation, while working in a constantly changing environment. Initially, the focus of the work will be on medical students and residents; but the role and scope will change as this new program is developed.

It would be considered an asset if the applicant had an understanding of physician resource planning, physician education, from the Doctor of Medicine program, medical residency, to the physician privileging process.
The ideal candidate will be able to liaison with Alberta Health, Alberta Health Services, Alberta College of Physicians and Surgeons, the University of Calgary Cummings School of Medicine and the University of Alberta Faculty of Medicine and Dentistry, and the Professional Association of Resident Physicians of Alberta.

Education:
A Master’s level education is preferred with an emphasis on health and policy studies.
