To apply to the REAL Program:
- Ensure you and the course or training opportunity for which you are interested in applying meet REAL Program eligibility criteria.
- Collect the information and documents required for your application.
- Keep your eyes on the REAL website and/or RhPAP e-newsletters for information on application periods.
- Apply during one of the three REAL applications cycles each year (Winter, Spring, Fall)
Information and Documents Needed for Your Application
- Name of the course or training opportunity
- Course or program URL if applicable
- Name of provider or education/academic institution offering the course or training opportunity
- Dates of course or training
- Method of delivery (online, in-person, hybrid)
- A description of the course or training, and how this will benefit your practice, your rural healthcare team and your rural community
If applying for an in-progress or upcoming course or training opportunity (please note: upcoming opportunities must start within six months of application submission), please make sure to have the following information at hand:
1. The supporting letter (templates, available below) that best applies to your employment context:
* If you are self-employed or in private practice: a letter of recommendation (REAL Letter of Recommendation Template) from another health professional within your rural community
* if you are an employee: a letter of support (REAL Letter of Support Template) from your manager or supervisor
2. If you have already registered for the course:
* Invoice and proof of payment for the course or training opportunity and course materials, if applicable
* If the invoice/proof of payment is in another currency, documentation of the amount paid in Canadian (e.g., a credit card statement or screenshot that includes your name)
If applying for reimbursement of a completed course or training opportunity (completion must have taken place within three months of application submission) please make sure to have the following information at hand:
- Certificate of completion or proof of successful completion of course or training opportunity
- Invoice and proof of payment for the course or training opportunity and course materials, if applicable
- If the invoice/proof of payment is in another currency, documentation of the amount paid in Canadian (e.g., a credit card statement or screenshot that includes your name)
Complete the REAL Program Application Form online.
- Once you initiate the the application form, you will have an option to save and continue later. The link that you receive to the form will remain active for 30 days, until you have submitted your application, or until the application period closes whichever comes first. At this time, you will no longer be able to make changes to or submit your application.
Please note: Applicants will be contacted within four weeks of closing date of the application period regarding the outcome of their application. Time-sensitive applications will be reviewed first. Applicants may be contacted sooner with questions regarding their application.
