Become a preceptor through rural mentorship
RhPAP’s Rural Mentorship Program is an excellent way to promote your practice and community to students considering working in rural Alberta. Physicians are compensated for their time.
To facilitate mentorship experiences, physician preceptors must be:
- Located within 2.5 hours drive of Calgary or Edmonton
- Be providing emergency or urgent care services at their rural hospital on any weekend days during which they plan to participate in the program
Physician preceptors pick the weekend daytime shifts and times that work for them, and RhPAP will take care of the rest! Participate as many or as few times as you wish.
Once preceptors and students have been matched, RhPAP will send a shift confirmation email connecting students with their preceptor. Students are expected to check in with their preceptor to confirm if there are any other expectations/arrangements for the shift. RhPAP will also email the preceptor a day or two before the shift with instructions on how to claim their preceptor honorarium.
