Experience a Career in Healthcare
This is a one-day program designed for high school students to explore the diverse field of rural healthcare and the various professions it offers. The event takes place during school hours and can be hosted at the local healthcare facility, school, or any other community space. Some of the sessions that can be included are:
- Storytelling from local healthcare providers
- Q&A panel of local healthcare providers
- Skills Stations with hands-on learning (suturing, IV starts, airway management, etc.)
Support your high-school students’ futures and promote healthcare options in your community.
RhPAP offers support to rural Alberta community attraction and retention committees and high schools to partner with the local health facility and high school(s) in hosting a Let’s Go Rural! High School event.
RhPAP will plan the event and provide:
- Skills station supplies (IV therapy, suturing, injections, casting materials, airway management, lab services)
- Venue rental
- Transportation of students (if hosted outside of regular bus route)
- Lunch and snacks (morning and afternoon)
- Appreciations gifts for volunteers
- SWAG
- Insurance
The Community/School will provide:
- Skills station supplies if choosing options beyond what RhPAP is providing
- Community specific SWAG and keepsakes
