RhPAP U explores the many factors that affect the health of rural people and communities
Have you ever wondered what the roles of different rural health professions are? Are you curious about how to create healthy rural communities for seniors, or the innovative ways that health services are being delivered in rural communities?
You can find the answers through RhPAP U.
RhPAP U is a new online resource created by Rural Health Professions Action Plan about rural health in Alberta.
There is no question that rural Alberta communities face some unique challenges around health and health care. Good information is essential for developing policies, infrastructure, and services to keep rural communities healthy.
However, rural-specific information, especially from reliable sources, is not always easy to come by.
RhPAP U is designed as a one-stop resource for rural health in Alberta. The evidence-based research, reports, videos, and infographics on RhPAP U offer insight into rural population trends, rural health issues, health workforce developments, and strategies to support healthy rural communities. There are many links to additional resources and research to explore a topic in more depth.
The information is organized into five pillars:
- rural population health
- rural health policy
- rural health research
- rural health service delivery
- rural health workforce.
Each pillar has several sub-topics that focus on issues relevant to rural communities. Collectively, these topics explain the many factors that influence the health of rural people and allow for a comprehensive approach to healthy rural communities.
RhPAP U will be of interest to rural community members and health professionals, government representatives, and health science students who are invested in supporting healthy rural communities.
Learning through RhPAP U offers the following:
- greater knowledge of rural health, health-care issues, and workforce challenges
- enhanced ability to attract and retain health-care providers to rural communities
- opportunity to better advocate for the needs of rural communities
We encourage you to explore RhPAP U and send to us your feedback!
