Dr. Bert Reitsma, Chairman of the RPAP | Health Workforce for Alberta Board of Directors, announced today that Dr. Jacques Magnan has been appointed to the position of Interim Executive Director of the organization effective April 1, 2016
“The RPAP Board of Directors is very pleased that Dr. Magnan has taken on the role of Interim Executive Director at this pivotal time in our history,” said Mr. Reitsma. “We believe Dr. Magnan brings a wealth of experience and connections from within the healthcare sector that will enable RPAP to grow and strengthen our relationships with strategic partners, including Alberta Health, Alberta Health Services, and the province’s Faculties of Medicine. The RPAP Board is confident that Dr. Magnan will lead RPAP to new and innovative directions, based upon the well-established foundation and province-wide recognition in rural communities, to build and maintain healthcare centres that deliver the best medical care. We look forward to working closely together with Dr. Magnan in this endeavour.”
Dr. Reitsma also extended heartfelt thanks and best wishes on behalf of the Board to David Kay, who is leaving RPAP after 19 years of service to assume the role of Chief Operating Officer and Associate Registrar of the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Alberta.
About Dr. Jacques Magnan
For the past 20 years, Dr. Jacques Magnan has pursued a career in health research management, first at the Medical Research Council and then at the Alberta Heritage Foundation for Medical Research, now Alberta Innovates Health Solutions. Most recently, Dr. Magnan served as Senior Strategic Lead for the Canadian Partnership for Tomorrow Project at the Canadian Partnership Against Cancer (CPAC) and Interim Co-chair of the Canadian Cancer Research Alliance
Dr. Magnan has also served as Co-Chair of the National Alliance of Provincial Health Research Organizations and as a member of boards or in an advisory capacity for several provincial and national health research agencies.
