Study: Telehealth services can be as effective as face-to-face

The Journal of Rehabilitation Medicine  has published a review on the effects of telehealth interventions delivered by allied health professionals and nurses in rural and remote areas.
In reviewing previously published articles, the authors compare the effects of telehealth with the effects of face-to-face interventions. They found that telehealth services may be as effective as face-to-face interventions.
Alberta boasts one of the largest and best integrated telehealth networks in North America. With more than 900 videoconferencing sites in the province, telehealth connects patients through Alberta with health-related services and education, from one-time health-related visits to ongoing follow-up.
