On behalf of the Rural Health Professions Action Plan, I am pleased to share with you that effective today, Dr. Gavin Parker of Pincher Creek has assumed the duties of Chairperson of the RhPAP Board of Directors.
Dr. Parker brings an in-depth understanding of the ways in which RhPAP supports the attraction and retention of health professionals in rural Alberta. A native of Winnipeg, MB., Dr. Parker first experienced the breadth of programming RhPAP during his time as a medical student and resident physician in Alberta. Having received many advantages through his involvement with RhPAP over the years, he freely gives back to the organization as both a member of the Board of Directors since 2013, and as a preceptor, instructor, and participant in many RhPAP-sponsored initiatives.
Dr. Parker and his wife, Jennifer, have embraced life in rural Alberta, are very active within their community, where they raise their family, and are involved as instructors in the Barracuda Judo Club.
We are excited to have Dr. Parker bring his experience and expertise to the position of Board Chairperson, and I personally look forward to continuing to work alongside Dr. Parker and the Board as we strive to ensure Rural Albertan communities have the appropriate health workforce to effectively deliver the health services they need to thrive.
– Bernard C. Anderson, Executive Director, RhPAP
