The RESIDE eligible communities were determined through the Alberta Health Rural Remote Northern Program aimed at the recruitment and retention of physicians to under-serviced areas/communities in Alberta and to ensure equitable health services for all Albertans. To be eligible, a community must meet the following criteria:
- Be listed on the Alberta Health Rural Remote Northern Program Community Rate Table
- Have a variable fee premium greater than 0%
- Not be a regional health site.
- Have an approved vacancy for a full-time family medicine physician as posted in https://doctorjobsalberta.albertahealthservices.ca/

RESIDE Community Levels
Level I Communities are communities with isolation scores (as per RRNP table) of above 25. Successful participants who elect to go to any of these communities will receive $80,000 for a two-year return-of-service term or $120,000 for a three-year return-of-service term.
Level II Communities are communities with isolation points (as per RRNP table) of less than or equal to 25. Successful participants who elect to go to any of these communities will receive $45,000 for two years return of service or $80,000 for three years return of service.
