Honouring Those Making a Lasting Difference in Rural Alberta

Each year, RHPAP invites nominations in the following categories:
Male doctor with stethoscope holding and examining a newborn baby wrapped in a blue blanket.

Rhapsody physician award

Established in 2002, this award recognizes rural physicians who demonstrate outstanding dedication to patient care, make meaningful contributions to medical practice, and play an important role in the wellbeing of their communities, especially those whose efforts often go unrecognized.

Rhapsody Healthcare Heroes Award

Established in 2018, this award celebrates rural health professionals or teams who show exceptional commitment to their patients, colleagues, and communities through compassion, collaboration, and excellence in care.

Why nominate?

We want to celebrate the impact of those making a difference, while building up pride in our communities. Awardees can select a local nonprofit to receive a $1,250 donation, while having their story shared across Alberta.

Nominations are open year-round, with a simplified process designed to make recognizing outstanding physicians easier.

What makes a strong nomination?

  • Tell a clear story: Describe the physician’s actions and their impact on patients and the community
  • Be specific: Include examples, timelines, or outcomes where possible
  • Show community support: Use your letter to reflect the collective voice of the community
