Attracting and retaining healthcare professionals is the focus of a provincial conference happening next week in Vermilion. The 2016 RPAP Rural Community Conference will be taking place at the Vermilion Regional Centre from 28-29 September 2016, and is co-sponsored by the Alberta Rural Physician Action Plan (RPAP), and the Vermilion and Area Physician Recruitment and Retention Committee.
According to conference coordinator, Rebekah Seidel, the 2016 conference marks the first time this event has been held outside of the Edmonton region. “It is exciting that the conference will be held in a rural Alberta community – the first year for this to happen,” says Seidel. “There is great representation from across rural Alberta registered to attend this year’s event.“
Conference delegates will be discussing a variety of topics related to the attraction, recruitment and retention of physicians and other healthcare professionals throughout the two-day event. In addition to participating in several educational sessions and panels, attendees will participate in the 2016 RPAP Award gala, a celebration of this year’s RPAP Rural Physician and Community Award recipients.
Registration packages will be available the first morning of the conference. Included will be a detailed agenda, bios of speakers, copies of presentations, and other information related to the conference.
